Your Therapist

My name is Deb Harris, MA, LPC, NCC, CCATP

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of  Connecticut, a National Board Certified Counselor, and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional with over 13 years of experience. I obtained my Master of Arts in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness from the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University and my undergraduate degree at the University of New Haven.   

 

As a proud female Therapist of color, I understand the importance of culturally responsive therapy- holding space for diverse experiences and identities while helping clients feel seen, heard, and empowered.

My approach is eclectic, drawing from evidence-based therapies like  Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to create a style that fits your needs.

​

But above all, I am down-to-earth, direct, and engaged. We'll work together to shift unhelpful thought patterns, build emotional resilience, communicate boundaries with more confidence, and develop practical coping strategies that fit your life. You won't find me sitting back silently in session.  I take an active role, holding you accountable, and providing homework to keep the work going outside of our sessions. Because real change doesn't just happen in therapy, it happens in your daily life.
